Jorge Civera Saiz

Dr Jorge Civera is an assistant professor of Computer Science at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). He received his undergraduate degree from the UPV in 2002, his Master's degree from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2003 and his PhD from the UPV in 2008, with the award to the best thesis on Computer Science at the UPV 2007-2008. He is member of the the Machine Learning and Language Processing research group (MLLP). He has participated in more than 15 research projects and has published over 40 articles in international journals and conferences. He has also been advisor of 2 PhD theses on different MLLP topics.
His most recent work includes his participation in: the EC Network of Excellence PASCAL2, the EC research projects transLectures (as a project manager) and EMMA (as leader at the UPV), as well as the Spanish research project “Multilingual Open Resources for Education” (MORE).
His research areas are pattern recognition, machine learning and natural language processing, and their application to the educational field.
