Christine Vidal is the deputy CEO of LE BAL, an independent venue in Paris offering exhibitions, publications, ideas and education, and centered on the contemporary image in all its forms – photography, video, film and the new media. Since its creation in 2008, she runs ‘La Fabrique du Regard’, LE BAL’s educational part that trains youths from 6 to 18 years old on how to become active and concerned observers who are aware that images obey to codes and usages, being part of the way we think about the world. In this context, she developed an innovative digital platform called ‘Ersilia’ (www.ersilia.fr), a database and a tool for analyzing images. It has been launched on May 2016.
Christine Vidal is in charge of the cultural programming of LE BAL: film viewing, meetings, symposiums, readings, concerts and performances. She corrects with Diane Dufour (Director of LE BAL) the books’ collection called ‘Les Carnets du Bal’ in partnership with l’EHESS (the Higher School in social sciences) and le CNAP (the National Centre of plastic art). This collection explores the stakes of contemporary images through original collaborations of artists, historians, philosophers and anthropologists.
