Bernard McCloskey

Bernard McCloskey is Head of Education with Northern Ireland Screen, the government funded agency for film and screen development in Northern Ireland. He is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of Northern Ireland Screen's moving image education strategy, A Wider Literacy, which aims to embed the use of moving image and related digital technologies across the curriculum, and for the management of the Northern Ireland Screen Digital Film Archive.

Bernard works closely with Northern Ireland’s three Creative Learning Centres; the Nerve Centre, Derry/Londonderry, Nerve Belfast and the SELB’s Amma Centre in Armagh on strategy delivery. The centres provide training for teachers and young people in creative digital technologies. Bernard is Chair of Examiners for CCEA's Moving Image Arts GCSE and has been an Apple Distinguished Educator since 2006. He has been Chair of Cinemobile, Ireland's mobile cinema, since 2007.

Bernard was previously the Creative Director with the FÍS project - a three-year pilot project introducing moving image as a support for the primary curriculum in the Republic of Ireland. Prior to this he was a successful video and television commercials producer/director and worked internationally in the advertising industry as a Creative Director for a number of leading advertising agencies including Saatchi & Saatchi and McCann-Erickson.
