For the first time, those entering could choose between submitting their entry as a production made by a professional company or semi-professional production unit or as one made by teachers, students, learners, parents, professors, individual or organisational representatives in primary education, secondary education, higher education, adult education, vocational education and\/or training. A jury of 74 education and media experts from 26 countries evaluated the MEDEA entries during August and September. Presentations by all 9 finalists were given during the Media &amp; Learning Conference which attracted over 230 participants from 31 countries and which provided an important context for this year\u2019s MEDEA Awards. The conference agenda also included workshops led by previous winners and finalists of the MEDEA Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Announcing the winner of this year\u2019s MEDEA Awards, Kathy Lindekens (VRT), talked about the high quality of the entries and the value of networking amongst all those involved. BBC\u2019s highly engaging project&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/showcase\/bbc-news-school-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">School Report<\/a>&nbsp;which gives 11-14 year-old students in the UK the chance to make their own news reports for a real audience was a popular overall winner of this year\u2019s MEDEA Awards, as it was also the winner of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/medea-award-for-professionally-produced-educational-media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Professional Production Award<\/a>&nbsp;sponsored by AVID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winner of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/medea-award-for-user-generated-educational-media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">User-Generated Content Award<\/a>&nbsp;sponsored by SMART was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/showcase\/et-si-c%C3%A9tait-toi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Et si c&#8217;\u00e9tait toi?<\/a>, submitted by the Lyc\u00e9e Technique du Centre in Luxembourg and represented by Laurence Streitz. This 4-minute film was produced by 17 to 18-year old students of the secondary school Lyc\u00e9e Technique du Centre in Luxembourg and deals with bullying and domestic violence. The Adobe-sponsored&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/european-collaboration-award\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">European Collaboration Award<\/a>&nbsp;went to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/showcase\/evolution-of-life\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Evolution of Life<\/a>, a website created by LMU Munich in Germany and CNDP (Centre National de Documentation P\u00e9dagogique) in France and represented by Yannick Mah\u00e9, offering original teaching materials about the evolution of life. A&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/special-award-of-the-medea-jury\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">special prize<\/a>&nbsp;was given to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/showcase\/pocket-anatomy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pocket Anatomy<\/a>, submitted by eMedia Interactive in Ireland and represented by Mark Campbell. Pocket Anatomy is a fully searchable interactive atlas of the human anatomy designed to run on a mobile device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The other finalists for this year\u2019s awards were&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/showcase\/bla-bla-bla-e-democracy-e-minori\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bla Bla Bla e-democracy e minori<\/a>&nbsp;by Civil Life Lab (Italy) represented by Adriana Sartore,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/showcase\/level-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Level 7<\/a>&nbsp;by Careersbox (UK) represented by James Lawrence and Nick Newman,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/showcase\/monkey-labs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Monkey Labs<\/a>&nbsp;by Die Keure\/Larian Studios (Belgium) represented by Swen Vincke and Vicky Vermeulen,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/showcase\/theorem-of-fire\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Theorem of Fire<\/a>&nbsp;by Nafta Films (Estonia) represented by Esko Rips and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/medea-awards.com\/showcase\/the-classroom\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Classroom<\/a>&nbsp;by Cornerhouse (UK) represented by Rachel Hayward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the finalists, the MEDEA Awards organisers also announced the names of the 6 entries that have been Highly Commended in the 2010 competition.
