<a href=\"https:\/\/content.media-and-learning.eu\/node\/4241\/lightbox2\" target=\"_blank\" data-lity><strong><strong><strong><strong>Maria Pavlopoulou<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/a>, University of Leeds, UK<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Surge in Educational AI Interest:<\/strong><br>This year witnessed a significant upswing in interest in Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) for education, encompassing<br>teaching, learning, support, assessment, and research, with educators eagerly exploring and experimenting with emerging tools and<br>practices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Democratisation of AI:<\/strong><br>Advances in computing power and Large Language Models, coupled with the open education movement, have made GenAI more<br>practical and affordable. This has expanded access beyond tech giants and research institutions, allowing educators and students to<br>actively use and engage with GenAI technologies. Yet, there are unresolved issues such as how information is harvested, used, and<br>generated. We argue that achieving a more distributed ownership and wider community involvement is crucial for making GenAI<br>equitable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Global Collaboration in GenAI Education:<\/strong><br>Academics from Higher Education in the UK, Canada, and Greece, part of the #creativeHE community, united to experiment with<br>GenAI and share early explorations openly.
