The new media regulator and media development agency, Coimisi\u00fan na Me\u00e1n, facilitates the work of MLI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A key part of this year\u2019s campaign is the new Be Media Smart Community Training Programme. Developed in conjunction with <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/edmohub.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\">EDMO Ireland<\/a>, a\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medialiteracyireland.ie\/training-development\/workshop-in-box\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Workshop in a Box<\/a><\/em>, a package with teaching materials for teachers, librarians, community leaders and coaches to deliver a media literacy workshop in their communities, it will run across the months of October and November. This new programme is expected to train and upskill over 100 community-based leaders, coaches, and librarians to deliver the Be Media Smart workshops in their own communities across the country, in English and in Irish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EDMO Ireland is also involved in a series of webinars until the end of November, exploring topics such as digital spaces, disinformation, and the work of fact-checkers. EDMO Ireland will also host an online event for secondary teachers to discuss best practices in teaching the Digital Media Literacy short course, one of the most important media literacy initiatives in the Irish education system that is available for Junior Cycle students across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">So let&#8217;s all <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-gridlove-cat-3-color\">STOP<\/mark>, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-gridlove-cat-270-color\">THINK<\/mark>, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-gridlove-cat-274-color\">CHECK<\/mark>!<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the Be Media Smart campaign, organisations across Ireland are encouraging people to \u2018Stop, Think, Check\u2019 the information they encounter on a daily basis.
