{"id":37723,"date":"2025-02-10T15:12:53","date_gmt":"2025-02-10T14:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/media-and-learning.eu\/?p=37723"},"modified":"2025-02-10T15:12:56","modified_gmt":"2025-02-10T14:12:56","slug":"lets-get-serious-about-sound","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/media-and-learning.eu\/subject\/av-technologies\/lets-get-serious-about-sound\/","title":{"rendered":"Lets get serious about sound&#8230;."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As audio content earns its rightful place in the pedagogical toolbox \u2013 from spoken word to field recordings to acousmatic composition &#8211; the Media and Learning Association is committed to amplifying sound-focused dialogue, knowledge exchange and collaborative projects amongst its members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our collective expertise opens exciting possibilities for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advancing understanding of the affordances of sound for learning, through our global community of practice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increasing awareness of sound related events, activities, resources, and examples<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sharing (and generating) opportunities for collaborative research<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Forging cross-disciplinary connections across, for example, ethnomusicology, acoustics, ecology, and neuroscience On these topics we therefore encourage you to engage with fellow members via the Special Interest Group (SIG) for audio\/video (AV) in Higher Education and as always, through the submission of articles to our monthly newsletter. We also welcome suggestions for our <a href=\"https:\/\/media-and-learning.eu\/media-production-hub\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Media Production Hub<\/a> &#8211; a curated collection of resources, including tutorials, best practices, and helpful tips for those working with media in learning environments. Furthermore, to kick-start 2025, we&#8217;re excited to announce our plans for a sound mapping initiative. This project aims to share our community&#8217;s diverse sonic landscapes while demonstrating sound&#8217;s rich communicative potential.
