R EU READY is an educational and interactive game created by the European Economic and Social Committee which lets you act out the role of an EESC member: choose the opinion you want to campaign on, answer questions and try to win the support of at least 75% of your colleagues. Have fun in learning how the EU works and the EESC's place in it. Available for free from both Google Play and Apple AppStore
You Decide is a teaching resource about privacy and digital responsibility for children and young adults aged between 9 and 18. The objective of the resource is to increase awareness, reflection and knowledge about privacy and the choices young people make when using digital media. The teaching resource consists of the website with articles and facts about relevant themes, true stories, discussion tasks and films. The themes include privacy, online violations, digital trails, source criticism and what it means to be social online. The films are linked to the themes and provide a good starting point for stimulating discussion and generating interest among the pupils.
Calkoo provides free online calculators for almost any purpose! Calkoo is perfect for anyone who needs to do a few quick calculations.
Numerous calculator applications are available here that let users make various calculations a lot easier than they normally are. A simple bond yield calculator or a fuel cost calculator application can save you the valuable time you would otherwise spend on lengthy manual calculations.
IrfanView - viewing and editing software
IrfanView is a fast, small, innovative freeware graphic viewer that can be also used for editing. It is intended as free only for private, non-commercial and/or educational use (schools, universities and libraries) and for use in charity or humanitarian organisations.
The software is currently supported and a list of recent changes can be seen on the website. A FAQ page quite rich of useful information is also provided on the website.

Language support can vary with the version. The current version supports the languages listed aside. English is anyway always supported.
e-Bug is a free educational resource for classroom and home use that makes learning about micro-organisms, the spread, prevention and treatment of infection fun and accessible for all students.
The website is divided in three sections for Junior Students, Senior Students and for Teachers, where lesson plans, student worksheets, activities and presentations are available. All activities and plans have been designed to complement the National Curriculum. The student pages complement the teacher resources by providing online games, revision pages and more to continue the learning experience at home.
Scratch is a programming language that makes it easy to create animations, interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art. The outcomes can be stored and shared on the web within the Scratch system.
It is not only an ideal tool for the creation of simple and attractive interactive and/or animated learning objects, but it also serves as a learning instrument for young people. By using Scratch learners learn not only to create and share Scratch outcomes but more importantly they learn mathematical, logical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively.
Scratch is at first sight a bit difficult to learn, but there is a (short and simple) manual that helps everyone getting started within minutes. It is not a full blown animation tool but it is a lot of fun and very rewarding to work with.
Scratch is developed by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab, with financial support from the National Science Foundation, Microsoft, Intel Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Google, Iomega and MIT Media Lab research consortia.
amara (powered by Universal Subtitling)
amara (formerly known as Universal Subtitles) is a community platform that allows for easily captionning and translating of the videos one produces, by seeking assistance from the viewers. Subtitling not only increases the geographical appleal of the vides by adding language versions, but also has the additional advantage of making videos accessible for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. The subtitling (translation and subtitle text addition) is done by volunteering viewers, like a wiki: easy, free and fast with no software to install. As of today August 15 2011) over 117000 videos have already been subtitled with Universal Subtitles.
Amara gives individuals, communities, and larger organizations the power to overcome accessibility and language barriers for online video. The tools are free and open source and make the work of subtitling and translating video simpler, more appealing, and, most of all, more collaborative.
The benefits of captioning and subtitling are immense:
- Captions make videos accessible for viewers who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Translations make it possible for all of us to watch video in languages that we don't speak
- Video creators get: better SEO, more views, access to a far bigger (potentially multilingual and global) audience, accessibility for deaf and hard of hearing viewers, and more
Amara is composed of three main parts:
- A subtitle creation and viewing tool (aka the widget)

Theorem of Fire
Theorem of Fire (Teoreem Tulest), created in 2009 by NAFTA Films (Estonia - http://www.nafta.ee), is a scientific and educational documentary about fire safety. The film shows dangerous situations related to various fire accidents with commentaries from appropriate specialists. The production of the film "Theorem of fire" has been financed and ordered by the Estonian Rescue Board in 2009 with the goal of raising public awareness about fire safety, to reduce fire casualties, fire accidents and to increase the use of smoke detectors in people’s houses.
Theorem of fire explains the development of a fire with different visual effects, scales and comments. It also describes how a smoke detector works using special effects and close-ups. The film has been produced so that parts of it can be used and questions answered with the help of a specialist or a teacher. The film recommends the right behaviour in case of a fire and explains how an emergency call centre works as well as the fire department.
The film is suitable for adults as well as youngsters starting from the age of 10. It has been used within the emergency prevention field in the Estonian Rescue Board since 2009 as part of different educational programmes for children and youngsters as well as adults, has been shown on TV on different occasions and has also been sent to all secondary schools in Estonia.

"Language Learning and Social Media - 6 Key Dialogues" is a community where 14 partner institutions of national, European and international reach examine 6 key dimensions of the combination language learning - social media.
These fundamental dimensions are:

- Language learning and teaching through social media in new EU countries: the case of Romania, Latvia and Poland
- Language learning, social media and multilingualism
- Language learning through social media: evolution of teaching practices
- Language learning and teaching in formal and non formal contexts through ICT
- Social media and Interculturality in language education
- Socializing and learning languages in web 2.0 communities
Each key dialogue is enriched by analysis and exploitation of data related to the topic. Reports, comparative studies, special issues of online journals, field analysis and open competitions complete the range of network outcomes.
