This project investigated the value and use of student-generated digital video for enhancing pedagogy in K-12 schools. It aimed to identify, examine and analyse pedagogical practices in relation to use of this technology in five case schools. A further aim was to articulate the principles, contexts and approaches underlying these practices. An understanding of the practices and approaches which enhance or constrain pedagogy in these five cases will contribute to a future larger study. Principles of good practice developed in this study will be used to inform future research on models for enhancing pedagogy with digital video in education.

Digital Video Digital University (DiViDu)
This demo shows an e-learning tool on basis of which students, future teachers and dentists can analyze practice cases, learn to reflect on practice, learn to demonstrate their newly acquired competence.
As of 2012, the tool is not updated anymore.
An examination of the impact of organisational constraintson change in UK Higher Education brought about by the introduction and use of learning technologies
The uptake and diffusion of the use of Learning Technologies in UK Higher Education is an instance of the adoption of change.
There has been considerable research into the ways in which the uptake and diffusion of innovation can effect change processes. This work has identified the importance of barriers and drivers to change as a part of the process. Areas of study have included general instances, those specific to technology and those relevant to the use of learning technology in higher education.
It has also been shown that a higher education institution’s organisational structure may itself inhibit or accelerate the way in which it will respond to external changes and adopt new practices.
This study reviews the development and growth in the use of learning technologies. It sets these activities in the context of changes in computing and predominant theories in education and psychology from a UK and US perspective.
This study goes on to describe the methodology adopted when undertaking an extensive survey of use of learning technology at the University of Southampton to make an initial case that institutional approaches associated with the known organisational models may amplify or dampen the known barriers and drivers for change.
The full thesis will take forward this work by analysing this data alongside a range of previously published data undertaking additional research into institutional approaches and the use of learning technology across a range of UK Higher Education Institutions.
EuroCreator is an educational initiative designed to encourage students and teachers throughout Europe to create at least one piece of media. To support this initiative, the EuroCreator website has been developed to facilitate educators and recognise and reward the creativity of young people. EuroCreator offers a pan European platform for students and educators to get creative and share their work.
The website will be delivered in 10 European languages and offers certification from the EU Commissioner for Education, Youth & Culture, Ján Figel'

Video production is a richly layered activity that engages learning and skills on many levels. It is a form of experiential learning with attention-grabbing moments, drama, and heightened emotions that create the distinct memories that are essential for longlasting learning. It's an inherently multidisciplinary activity. Scripting and plot development involves language-arts skills; lighting and white-balancing cameras prior to shooting involves knowledge of color temperature theory; credit sequences draw on graphic-design skills; and sound editing requires knowledge of music. In addition, students learn a communication process that requires planning, time management, teamwork, and of course, technology.

Spotlight on authentic learning: Student developed digital video projects
"Over the past decade, digital video editing software has developed from an expensive, rather clumsy tool, to a cheaper, user friendly tool with many capabilities that facilitate learner control. This development has given rise to a host of new applications in education, including the ability of students to capture, edit and generate their own video. As a result, student generated digital video projects (referred to subsequently in this paper as DV tasks or DV projects) are now being used in many classrooms to support, extend, or change pedagogy and curriculum outcomes.
The project on which this paper is based studied the use of student generated digital video in five schools. Two foci of the project were the nature of student learning from DV tasks and the pedagogical approaches being used with this technology. One of the characteristics of the video tasks that was noted in the study was their authentic nature. This paper analyses current understandings of authentic learning, examines teacher and student beliefs about the perceived authentic nature of student generated digital video tasks, and provides evidence of the authentic learning noted in the DV tasks from the study."

Educational Video Center
The Educational Video Center is a non-profit youth media organization dedicated to teaching documentary video as a means to develop the artistic, critical literacy, and career skills of young people, while nurturing their idealism and commitment to social change.
The center also organises a Youth-Powered Video Film Festival.
Teaching Intermedia Literacy Tools (TILT)
TILT (Teaching Intermedia Literacy Tools) works within schools and community-based programs to teach young people the fundamentals of moviemaking and media literacy through hands-on training in video production. Programs equip young people with the tools to critically understand media messages and to create their own alternative media. Through a combination of technical training and hands-on experience we give students the means to gain a meaningful voice in media and to tell their own stories.
