17:20 – 18:05 | Workshop F: Practical strategies for designing media for learning - An institutional approach

Creating educational video is becoming a critical aspect of an educator’s skillset, but designing video content for teaching and learning can be a complex process to navigate, particularly when faced with institutional constraints or limited video production experience. During the workshop attendees will evaluate approaches used to create different types of educational media from traditional didactic videos through to experiential learning scenarios for students. The presenters will discuss how they overcame institutional constraints to create professional looking and effective learning experiences for students. Using research conducted at The University of Derby into the educational video design process, members of the Technology Enhanced Learning Team will engage attendees to consider ‘what makes a video educational?’ and ‘where does the learning happen?’, alongside practical tips on creating educational video. Attendees will come away inspired to try new approaches to creating media for learning!
