An academic’s journey with video: from flipping the classroom to live broadcast to Just-in-Time video learning

Dr Martin Khechara, an innovative lecturer and science communicator, has a particular focus on using video in all its forms to enhance his teaching practice. In this talk, Martin will discuss his journey with video so far, including creating ‘flipped laboratory’ sessions for his students using multi-camera video, his ‘augmented flip’ involving AR to deliver learning at the point of need, his use of video to unpack assessment briefs and his use of webcasting to engage learners at distance. He will explain why he thinks video matters to today’s learners, why he has chosen certain approaches and how other academics can be encouraged to experiment with video.
