Dimitrios Chatzakis

Chatzakis Dimitrios (2-12-1970) works 21 years as a teacher in Mandoulides Schools in Thessaloniki, a Greek institution with a global orientation (mandoulides.edu.gr/). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Greek Philology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), a Master’s degree in Linguistics (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and a Master’s Degree in Education (Hellenic Open University). Mandoulides Schools are one of the 4 schools in Greece that have been selected by Microsoft as a “Microsoft Showcase School” as a recognition of the innovative actions and he is one of the 48 teachers in Greece who has singled out by Microsoft for the school year 2016-2017.

He is in charge of the extracurricular activity “Cinema Club” in Mandoulides Schools with significant distinctions. “The Walk”, a fiction film, was a Hightly Commended entry in the Medea Awards 2017 to which over 100 entries from 26 countries were submitted. In 2017 he was awarded with the first place in documentary films with “The massacre of the ambassadors” in the 7th International Short Film Competition in Greece and with the first place in fiction films with “The Walk” in the 6th International Short Film Competition. He was awarded in 2015 and 2017 in student video competitions about the Holocaust which organized by the General Secretariat for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs and the Jewish Museum of Greece (“Rosina, Robie, Fernadez”, “Umberto Primo”). The videos are available on the channel of the Educational Television of Greece and are recommended for the Holocaust Remembrance Day by the Ministry of Education. Also, he participated in the training program to the State Monument and Museum of Auschwitz in Poland.

In 2015-2017 he took part in several educational programs: “Teachers4Europe” (Brussels), “School Ambassadors” (Strasbourg) and “Democratic Education", a two-year Education and Training Program for Teachers implemented by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the exclusive donation of the S. Niarchos Foundation (ISN). He has presented several announcements for Innovation & Research in Open & Distance Learning (Flipped Classroom: a case study for the distance school education at private secondary level -8th International Conference on Open & Distance Education - ICODL 2015, Doc in action - "Summer University" of Andros - Educational adverse: Speech-image-sound, 2016). He has also participated in several teachers' courses and seminars in Greece, Turkey, Poland, Belgium and Italy.
