The internet and social media have transformed how young people learn about and engage with sexuality, often exposing them to unrealistic portrayals, misinformation, and risks. The easy accessibility of adult content, coupled with peer influence online, shapes perceptions of relationships, consent, and body image in unprecedented ways.
In this session, we addressed online risks such as sexting, revenge porn, and grooming while exploring how media literacy can help navigate these challenges. We also shared best practices for discussing sexual education through a media literacy framework, equipping educators with tools to foster critical thinking and promote healthy digital habits.
