Managing the demand for audiovisual support services – the changing role of Centres for Teaching and Learning
One of the most striking changes that has taken place in higher education over the last year is the dramatic move online brought about by the pandemic. Responsibility for supporting academic staff and students in the move online which included a dramatic increase in the use of media to support, facilitate and enhance learning lay with a variety of different centres, departments and units known by a plethora of different names. During this presentation and discussion centre we plan to explore where and how such centres are positioning themselves for the future, what is their role and how best should they prepare for the challenges ahead. During this presentation and discussion session we will talk about common practices, innovative activities and what we can learn from research.

How can Technology help you teach in a hybrid environment?
Everyone knows that dealing with Technology can be overwhelming and stressful sometimes, but it actually can and should be a facilitator and a support, not a distraction or burden for educators. As a global leader in AV technology, Panasonic shows you how to use technology to teach in a hybrid environment without stress and complicated preparation, and how students benefit as well.

Teaching in a hybrid environment
Many teaching staff are now faced with a situation where they are not only expected to continue to teach students remotely online, but are also dealing with the learning needs of students in the class with them. This type of teaching goes by a variety of different names, Hybrid, HyFlex, Flexible, Dual Mode to name but a few. Supporting teaching staff in this situation can be a challenge as they and the services that facilitate them struggle with what for many is a juggling act that far too often results in one group of students feeling left out. During this presentation and discussions session, experienceed practioners will share their tips and suggestions for making hybrid work well from a pedagogical as well as a technical point of view.
Panellists:
- Zac Woolfitt, Inholland University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands, Practical approaches to teaching in the Hybrid Classroom (presentation)

Choosing and using different video formats for different pedagogical settings
Probably the most common challenge faced by those providing video support services in higher education settings is helping academics choose for the most appropriate format, one that not only meets their pedagogical objectives but which is also in keeping with the available resources and skill sets as well as meeting student expectations. One of the most successful and comprehensive approaches that has recently come on stream, is the service offered by Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands which not only guides their academics in their choices, but also provides a estimation of what a specific production will cost. Join Wiebe Dijkstra and Pim van Schöll from the NewMedia Centre as they introduce us to this freely available service and join the discussion with our panellists as they talk about their own solutions. Go even further remotely. How to enhance the Hybrid educational experience.
We have all heard of COVID-19, that’s for sure, and we have all responded creatively but very differently to the situation all with the common goal of continuing and enhancing the educational experience. It hasn’t been easy, that’s for sure. Kalyzée has spent the last 2 years equipping most of France’s Universities and we have gathered knowledge on the best practices of what is seen in the market today.
Remote learning is here to stay, whether it be in the classroom or at work, but have we enhanced the experience of learning at a distance? How can we make online learning, hybrid learning, or mixed learning as beneficial as on-site learning? Kalyzée will present the knowledge and best practices we have obtained over the last two years and how we have developed our solutions to adapt to any situation remote or onsite. Go even further remotely… enhance your educational experience.
