Wednesday Webinar on Grassroots Media Literacy: community-led approaches to building trust and digital resilience | 14:00-15:15 CET 18 November

Who teaches media literacy when institutions don’t reach people? Formal education and public services can’t be everywhere at once. In that gap, community-led media literacy initiatives have grown; not as substitutes for institutional efforts, but as something different in kind. Often rooted in local, everyday trust rather than institutional authority, they are built through co-creation and participatory approaches, and able to reach people in ways that formal, top-down structures sometimes cannot.

As part of Media & Learning Association’s Wednesday Webinar series on Digital and Media Literacy in Europe, this session will explore what makes community-led, bottom-up approaches to media literacy work, drawing on real-world case studies. Would you like to hear about people’s concerns about media use and the mis- and disinformation circulating in their communities, and how practitioners are responding to them on the ground?
