About this member

VU Amsterdam is a unique university with faculties in the humanities, STEM, social sciences and medical sciences. Our education and research are closely linked. We combine our top position in research with a strong social orientation, which has resulted in an excellent international reputation. Our education and research are distinctly multidisciplinary. UPV is a public University with 30,000 students and 4,000 staff. It is the first technological university in Spain according to international rankings and focuses mainly on engineering and technical studies. It is the second-largest MOOC provider between European Universities. It is also known in the Educational Technology area, with their Flipped Teaching initiative and is a member of the Media and Learning association and the Opencast community for video in education.

The Digital Learning and Multimedia Office is in charge of managing, promoting and updating hardware and software for online teaching and for technological support to research and traditional teaching. The Office also provides a range of services such as filming, streaming, editing, consulting and training. The Office knowledge and skills are made available to the University professors and staff. In particular, the Office organises workshops and training activities for staff and provides specific consultancy for design and supply of courses. The Office also promotes and realises a range of multimedia products, such as MOOCs, video lessons and video tutorial for self-learning. The Office is additionally in charge of distributing online scientific contents through different platforms and manages the Moodle platform for University Schools, Departments and other offices.
