Together with the Social and Behavioural Sciences Faculty at Leiden University (FSW), Monika Theron of Centre for Innovation(CFI) co-organized an event accommodating XR on Tour by SURF. The half day event consisted of presentations and demos of several AR and VR projects for education and research. CFI Developer Adel Qaddoumi presented the Injection App, developed for Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC) — a multi-user AR (HoloLens) application that simulates the experience of a real-world injection procedure using holograms.
The day started with a series of short presentations highlighting the projects and ended with everyone testing out each other’s work. There was a lot of fun had and many had the opportunity to test out the new Varjo XR-3, with its high pixel density and full colour mixed reality pass through capabilities. (see the presentation for more details on Surf’s demos they had on display).
Contributors included Paul Melis, Toby Besamusca, and Cathy Brouwer of SURF, Robin de Lange of VR Learning Lab, XR developer Maarten Struijk at the FSW, and many others. More coverage of the event and projects is to come in September!
