The European Broadcasting Union recently provided a free test pattern for use in creating UHDTV video signals. The color bars can be downloaded for free in Quicktime (HDTV and UHDTV) and Tiff format and are accompanied with its technical documentation Tech 3373: Colour Bars for Use in the Production of Hybrid Log Gamma (HDR) UHDTV (https://tech.ebu.ch/publications/tech3373). The technical document decribes tests for UHDTV, UHDTV to HDTV conversion, measuring luminance response, visualising saturation and hue shifts caused by monitoring equipment, checking correct installation of Quad 3G-SDI 2 sample Interleaving equipment and near-black performance. It is not a tool for calibrating your reference monitor, but it can help ensure correct settings are applied in your editing and color correction hardware or to detect errors in transmission chains, for example a common seen error like swapping two 3G-SDI in and out cables.
