A recent article on the UOC.edu portal provides some insight into a new Learning Intelligent System (LIS) project which has been developed by an inter-disciplinary team of researchers at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). This automatic system can be used to help students who are at risk of failing or dropping out to improve their academic performance. It has been the subject of a recent study which demonstrated the benefits of the system which not only identifies at-risk students, but also provides relevant information to improve the learning process and student performance.
