The Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies (CICANT) results from the combined efforts of Lusófona University (Lisbon and Porto, Portugal) researchers in Communication Sciences. The centre is geared towards innovative and interdisciplinary research and promotes theoretical and applied research at the crossroads of media, society, literacies, arts, culture and technologies. CICANT has extensive research experience in the Media, Society and Literacies (MSL) area and hosts the MeLCi Lab – Media Literacy and Civic Cultures Laboratory. MelCi Lab’s primary mission is to aggregate researchers and the research done at CICANT in the field of media education and civic cultures, in connection with everyday life in today’s deep mediatized and digitized society.
