The HealthyMindEd project aims to promote wellbeing in digital learning environments among higher education educators and students by equipping them with innovative teaching approaches, best practices, and purposeful methods.
The project aims to impact academic, professional, and social aspects of the target group’s lives, alongside influencing the institutional and societal dimensions of European Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Based on an international literature review and research, policy recommendations for universities will be derived and an interactive online platform with methods, pedagogical approaches, best practices and information material will be developed.
At its core, the project views wellbeing in Higher Education as a multi-dimensional construct that includes an individual’s ability to fully exercise their cognitive, emotional, physical, biological and social capacities, leading to flourishing and positive contributions to the academic community and society. Wellbeing is shaped by social, economic, environmental, and digital factors, with digital spaces playing a key role in engagement, mental health, and social interaction.
To address these challenges, HealthyMindEd provides educators and students with innovative teaching strategies, pedagogical methods and best practices to develop balanced and supportive digital teaching and learning environments. By integrating wellbeing into the digital experience, the project advances higher education as a space that promotes both academic excellence and holistic personal development.
Main Outcomes of the project:
(1) Comprehensive Research Report
- Synthesis of findings from a broad review of international research, focus groups and surveys conducted across all partner organisations.
- It aims to provide a sound comprehensive overview of the current state, needs, and existing approaches to mental, physical, and social wellbeing among both teaching staff and students in European higher education institutions.
(2) Policy Recommendations
- Creation of objective policy recommendations, based on the insights from the research findings, specifically for higher education decision- and policymakers, as well as for teaching staff and students.
(3) Interactive Online Platform & Community of Practice
- The platform will function as a lively hub where educators and learners can access purposefully selected methods, best practices and resources, share experiences, collaborate, and engage in discussions
- To ensure effective and easily integration into daily-practice, high-quality multimedia content will be developed, produced and integrated.
