iLRN Launches Global Scan 2026 – Call for Contributors Worldwide

The Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN) has officially opened its global call for contributors to participate in the 2026 Global Scan & Reporting Effort, an international initiative mapping emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges in the field of immersive learning.

Each year, iLRN brings together experts from education, research, industry, and creative sectors to co-author its flagship Immersive Futures report. For the 2026 edition, the organisation invites contributors across five world regions to help identify promising signals—from XR-enhanced teaching and learning practices to innovative applications in cultural heritage, sustainability, health, and community-driven immersive experiences.

Participants can join regional working groups through iLRN’s online collaboration hubs, where they will help scan developments, assess their potential impact, and collectively shape the narrative of the final report. All confirmed contributors will be acknowledged as co-authors in the published 2026 edition.

This year’s effort also includes a dedicated call for Indigenous-led immersive practices, encouraging Indigenous Elders, scholars, creators, and community partners to share culturally grounded knowledge, methodologies, and protocols for immersive storytelling and education.

The Global Scan runs through December 2025, with synthesis and review taking place in early 2026.
