The rapid advancement of Generative AI (GenAI) in recent months has brought many changes in the field of education. GenAI, with its ability to generate realistic and engaging content, has opened various possibilities for enhancing learning experiences, conducting research, and fostering creativity. At the same time, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and lost with all the different tools that keep on coming. And, importantly, alongside promising applications of GenAI, we must be careful in how and why we use GenAI in learning activities, understand its limitations and be aware of the ethical considerations.
To empower and support teachers, trainers, and facilitators in integrating GenAI into their educational practices while taking ethical considerations into account, ALL DIGITAL together with support from Microsoft, designed a comprehensive online training program.
The training program organised as a series of online courses is available through ALL DIGITAL Academy Platform and it provides learners with the knowledge and competences necessary to effectively leverage GenAI technologies in adult educational settings. The goal of the project is to offer a thorough overview of the use of generative AI in education, starting from the basics of AI and GenAI to their practical applications in educational settings
The GenAIEdu training program consist of seven self-contained courses in English, each lasting for approximately four hours:
- Course 1: Introduction to AI
- Course 2: Introduction to Generative AI
- Course 3: Generative AI and Digital Resources
- Course 4: Generative AI in Teaching and Learning
- Course 5: Generative AI in Assessment
- Course 6: Empowering Learners with Generative AI
- Course 7: Facilitating Learners’ Digital Competence with Generative AI
In addition to the online course, learners had the opportunity to attend the online workshops that focus on specific aspects of each of the courses, and webinar series “Let’s talk about GenAI!“ series which aims to bring experts in the field of Artificial Intelligence together with educators, teachers, and trainers for informal discussion, Q&A sessions, and resource sharing. While the webinar series concluded with an event organized on 17 June, all recordings are available in the GenAIEdu learning environment and here is an overview of topics covered:
