The XQ.EUJOY: European Youth Journalism project invites proposals for its upcoming international congress, “Journalism and Education: Why News in the Age of Disinformation,” to be held on 13 December, in Barcelona, Spain. This congress aims to explore the evolving role of journalism as an educational tool and its importance in fostering a more informed and critical citizenry. Participants will engage in discussions on the impact of disinformation, the ethics of journalism, and the integration of decolonial perspectives in media narratives, addressing pressing challenges in the digital age.
The call for proposals is open to students, journalists, educators, and communication professionals. Submissions should critically reflect on topics such as the rise of misinformation, journalism’s educational potential, and the need for more inclusive and ethical journalistic practices.
Proposals should be submitted in English, with an abstract of 300–500 words, by 31 October. Selected speakers will be invited to present their work at the conference and may have the opportunity to publish their contributions in XQ The News magazine.
Key dates to remember include the 31 October submission deadline and 8 November notification of acceptance. For more information and submission details, visit the conference registration form or contact info@xqthenews.com.
