FAU Good practice – Training on smart decisions in everyday clinical practice

This video (7min 38sec) is part of the FAU Good practice series in which lecturers present innovative course concepts and their implementation. Dr. Pet van der Keylen (Medical Institute at the University Hospital Erlangen) uses the Flipped Classroom concept in his elective “Smart Decisions in Everyday Clinical Practice”.

In this course, students learn through a learning module that presents material in both written form and through learning videos. These videos are re-recorded every two semesters to ensure they remain current. Additionally, exercises are provided which can be solved independently or in small groups with the help of student and tutors.
This format has been very popular among students. They particularly appreciate the flexibility to study the material at their own chosen time and access it digitally whenever they want. The contact with the tutors is also positively highlighted.

Get inspired by this good practice! The feedback from the students and advice from Dorscht can be found at the end of the video.
