Lisa Bauereisen from the Chair of Bavarian and Franconian Regional History presents her interactive learning videos and her online escape game.
Several elements were used to make digital teaching attractive and to activate the students.
The game “Who-am-I” in the seminar form “Who-or-what-am-I”: For each (presentation) topic, the students chose a term that matched the respective session. To further activate the participants, every two to three sessions they were asked to upload a background image in ZOOM that was related to the seminar topic.
Instructional videos as a substitute for a presentation: students were free to choose between a self-produced instructional video or a “live presentation”. This should ensure that students with a weaker internet connection can also perform well.
Online escape game: Towards the end of the semester, topics and content of the seminar were processed in a “digital scavenger hunt” through Nuremberg.
StudOn was used as the basic platform to upload the students’ handouts, the teaching videos produced and literature to prepare for the sessions. A forum was set up for communication between students. The “group” function on StudOn was used for the online escape adventure, in which the previous course content was processed in a playful way. All digital tools were used in this game (maps, wiki, Google, mail, etc.). The solutions to the puzzles each resulted in a password for a StudOn group, in which further puzzles and parts of the story could then be found, and the sessions themselves took place as live webinars via ZOOM.
