OECD ai literacy framework

OECD and EC Launch AI Literacy Framework for Schools

The European Commission and the OECD, in collaboration with Code.org and a network of international experts, have released a draft of the AI Literacy Framework for Primary and Secondary Education (AILit Framework). This initiative aims to equip students with the skills and understanding needed to thrive in an AI-driven world and contributes to the upcoming PISA 2029 assessment on Media and Artificial Intelligence Literacy.

The draft framework, which is now publicly available, is designed to spark meaningful dialogue among educators, policymakers, and stakeholders. It outlines key competencies and approaches for integrating AI literacy into school curricula and calls for active feedback to ensure its relevance and effectiveness across diverse educational settings.

Stakeholders are invited to engage with the draft through a series of in-person and virtual events hosted by the European Commission, OECD, Code.org, and their partners. Feedback from educators and organisations will play a central role in shaping the final version of this important initiative.
