Since September 2025, OpenAI has launched two courses aimed at building practical, job-ready AI skills: AI Foundations and ChatGPT Foundations for Teachers. The initiative marks the next step in OpenAI’s commitment to expanding economic opportunity through education and certification.
AI Foundations offers hands-on training directly inside ChatGPT, allowing learners to practice real-world tasks, receive feedback, and earn a certification that verifies job-ready AI skills. The course is launching through pilot programs with leading employers and public-sector partners, including Walmart, Accenture, John Deere, and several U.S. state institutions, with plans to expand access in the coming months.
Alongside this, ChatGPT Foundations for Teachers is now available on Coursera. Designed specifically for K–12 educators, the course helps teachers understand how ChatGPT works and apply it effectively and responsibly in classroom and administrative tasks. More teacher-focused certifications are planned, with a fully integrated ChatGPT learning experience expected in 2026.
