The 2021-2027 digital education action plan (DEAP), the European Commission’s flagship initiative adopted in September 2020 came under review recently by the European Parliament. Progress on the DEAP is the subject of a briefing released in mid March. In the briefing, several actions are noted including the ethical guidelines on the use of artificial intelligence and data in teaching and learning for educators that were published in October 2022. The briefing also urged that digital transition funds be used to increase education systems’ digital capacity and mentioned the importance of providing adequate financial support for teachers’ professional development.
