A new report from ACT (American College Testing), which assesses the extent to which US students are college-ready each year gives a comprehensive overview of the impact of the pandemic on students experiences in first year. They do however point to ways in which the situation can be alleviated, including by making learning resources more easily available including easy-to-access instructional videos.
