Instagram Edits is a suite of built-in editing tools available for the Instagram app, used for adjusting photos and videos before posting them as stories, reels, or feed posts. The tools are designed to be simple and fast and to make quick improvements without needing a separate editing app. Instagram Edits is very convenient since the tools are built into the app: you do not need to switch between platforms. You can crop, rotate, adjust brightness, contrast, warmth, and saturation, and apply filters with just a few taps. For videos, you can trim clips, add music from Instagram’s library, and insert stickers, text, or effects. This is very useful for people who want to post something instantly without spending a lot of time editing. Another advantage is that the tools are tailored to suit Instagram’s formats, such as square posts, vertical stories, and reels. The editing experience is designed for mobile use and social sharing, making it fast and intuitive, even for inexperienced editors. It has some very nice features such as real-time insights that give you feedback on users’ reactions, auto enhance, chrome key, and AI based animations.
Instagram Edits does have some limitations: the editing options are quite basic compared to other dedicated editing apps. For example, you cannot layer multiple effects, work with multiple video tracks, or fine-tune audio beyond basic volume control and the filters and effects sometimes reduce image quality or make content look overly processed, which can make the results sometimes look less professional. Altogether, Instagram Edits is not meant for very advanced editing, but it is a handy, easy tool that works best for quick, on-the-go improvements to photos and videos for sharing on Instagram. Personally I find editing on a smartphone a pain but if you have no choice and you are an Instagram user, this may be your thing.
