Strong focus on impact for Media & Learning conference on 18-19 June 2025

The Organisers and Advisory Committee of the Media & Learning Conference have announced the themes for this year’s conference which will take place on 18-19 June 2025. This year’s event will take place under the banner Educational media that works and will be run jointly with KU Leuven’s Learning Lab in the Provinciehuis in the historical city of Leuven in Belgium. This banner highlights the importance placed by the organisers of making the best-informed choices that we can when it comes to choosing and using media to support learning in tertiary education.

The call is now open for submissions to the conference agenda and will close on 31 January 2025. All submissions need to address at least one of the 14 themes chosen for this year’s event. These themes are: Choosing the right format; Learning through storytelling; Media-driven assessment; Communicating research; Accessibility, digital inclusion and media format; DIY media production training; Digital heritage, storage and ownership; Students as partners in media production; Ethical and innovative integration of AI in educational media production processes; Immersive Learning; Enhancing hybrid learning with advanced lecture capture; Greening educational media technologies; Management and operation of centres and service providers and Exploring effective co-production and re-use practices. Those submitting proposals can choose between different formats which this year include presentations, pecha kucha inputs, workshops, discussions or demonstrations. The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition of leading suppliers of relevant tools and services.

This year’s conference is aimed directly at staff working in centres for teaching and learning, educational media production centres, learning innovation departments, educational departments, audiovisual services as well as researchers and policy-makers keen to explore the added value of media in teaching and learning. High on the agenda will be relevant evidence based research findings, practical explorations of the advantages of different formats and approaches and a sharing of best practice.

Looking forward to seeing you in June 2025!
