New World Economic Forum report calls for Rethinking Media Literacy

The World Economic Forum has just released a timely report titled “Rethinking Media Literacy,” offering a refreshed framework to strengthen today’s complex information ecosystems.

At a time when misinformation and disinformation top the list of short-term global risks — as highlighted in the WEF Global Risks Report 2025 — this new report underscores the urgent need to invest in Media and Information Literacy (MIL).

The publication outlines how all actors, from individuals and educators to tech platforms and policymakers, have a role to play in fostering healthier and more resilient media environments. It calls for a more systemic and inclusive approach to media literacy, going beyond traditional education settings and embedding MIL into the broader social, digital and institutional fabric.
