The European Commission has launched a public consultation (running until 2 October 2025) aimed at developing both guidelines and a voluntary Code of Practice to enhance transparency in AI systems, particularly targeting generative AI.
Under the AI Act, providers and deployers of such systems are legally required to inform users when they interact with AI or are exposed to AI-generated or manipulated content; the proposed measures aim to clarify and operationalise these transparency obligations.
The consultation invites feedback from a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including AI providers and deployers, researchers, civil society, and citizens, and also includes a call for expressions of interest to participate directly in crafting the Code of Practice.
