The European Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD) has been subject to much discussion in recent months and the good news for media literacy activists is that media literacy is now back int he directive with members states encouraged to now specifically ‘promote and take measures for the development of media literacy skills’. The European Parliament adopted the new text of this directive including this recommendation on 2 October 2018. Read the provisional revised text.
