Call for input about digital and media literacy related to new European Democracy Shield

On Monday 31 March, the European Commission issued a call for evidence and a public consultation on the European Democracy Shield. Stakeholders, whereby individual citizens, national authorities, public or private organisations, are welcome to submit their views by Monday 26 May 2025

Media literacy is a key element of the Shield initiative, as part of the third theme on “strengthening societal resilience and preparedness”. The three other themes are: countering disinformation and FIMI, ensuring the integrity of elections and democratic processes, and fostering citizens’ engagement. Individuals and organisations are invited to submit their input through this public consultation both on how they rank the importance of certain measures as well as their more general ideas and suggestions. The input of members of the Media and Learning Association is being facilitated through our Digital and Media Literacy AdCom and will include a dedicated webinar on the topic in early May.
