The Erasmus+ project Sign4Change aims to boost the confidence of deaf and hard of hearing students to become active members of society. By combining deaf education with social innovation, the project offers innovative teaching and learning materials.

Social innovation in education promotes creativity, empathy and problem-solving skills. Sign4Change combines these principles with the specialised techniques of deaf education to create an inclusive learning environment where every voice is heard and valued.

Key outputs of the project:

  • Comprehensive curriculum for pupils
  • Online training for teachers
  • E-book with interviews of famous deaf role models from Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Spain and Greece
  • Video library with inspiring messages created by deaf and hard of hearing students themselves
  • Videos of deaf students interviewing deaf role models

The training materials include theoretical principles as well as practical instructions and activities. The training is very flexible and all materials are freely available on our website so that teachers can use them directly in the classroom.

The training sessions for teachers are divided into four phases, ranging from ‘Introduction to Social Innovation and Deaf Education’ to ‘Campaigning with Sign Language’ and ‘Empowerment and Active Citizenship of the Deaf Community’. Each module provides a comprehensive overview of the resources required, the skills to be acquired and guidance on how to run your own social innovation project with students.
