On 24 September, MLA brings together its community of CTL professionals for a session addressing the different stages a centre moves through, and the challenges that come with each one.
The session follows that arc from start to finish. It opens with the question of formation — how to build a CTL from scratch, or bring one together by merging departments already doing similar work under one roof. From there, it turns to the realities of early stewardship: what it takes to lead a newly established centre as it builds a team, defines its services, and earns its place on campus. It closes on a challenge every centre eventually faces, regardless of age — how to bring new tools and technologies, AI chief among them, into everyday practice through a considered, repeatable process rather than one-off, reactive adoption.
