The 23rd Strategic Seminar of the European Educational Repositories Network (EdReNe) took place in Vienna on 21–22 May 2026, bringing together representatives from eight countries — Austria, Belgium-Flanders, England, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy and Norway.
Organised by the Future Learning Lab of the Vienna University College of Teacher Education in collaboration with European Schoolnet, this year’s event centred on the integration of artificial intelligence into school systems, with particular attention to ethics, quality, and system-level readiness.
Sessions covered a wide range of topics, including the ethical dimensions of AI in education, the strategic repositioning of educational repositories such as Flanders’ KlasCement, Germany’s Adaptive Intelligent System for personalised learning, AI workspaces for teachers, and open educational resources in higher education. Updates from network members in Ireland and Germany rounded out the programme.
Key themes running throughout the seminar were the importance of teacher agency, the need for trustworthy and verifiable AI-generated content, and a call for treating AI as a public good governed in the interest of all learners.
The next EdReNe meeting is planned for Spring 2027 in Ireland.
