Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) and the University of Central Florida (UCF) are launching the first edition of Teaching and Learning with AI in Europe, an unconference bringing around 300 university professionals, lecturers, researchers and policymakers to Breda to explore AI’s role in the European Higher Education Area.
True to its unconference format, the event favours dialogue-driven sessions and collaborative workshops over passive listening, with attendees shaping much of the conversation. Themes span pedagogical approaches to AI, digital learning and online instruction, academic integrity, instructional design, assessment, AI and accessibility, and the ethical and institutional questions AI raises for higher education.
The opening panel, “What Are We Educating For?”, brings together speakers from BUas, Oxford’s AI in Education research hub and Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The closing keynote will be delivered by Prof. Birgit Phillips of FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences, on AI governance, AI literacy and redesigning higher education for a world where AI is no longer the exception.
