New Book: Guiding Vulnerable Young People in a Digital World (in Dutch)

How can educators, youth workers, and support professionals help vulnerable young people navigate an increasingly digital world? The new book Guiding Vulnerable Young People in a Digital World (Kwetsbare jongeren begeleiden in een digitale wereld), published by Mediawijs, offers practical guidance for professionals working with young people who may face additional challenges online.

The book addresses a wide range of topics, including online safety, digital inclusion, cyberbullying, online manipulation, social media pressures, and the role of digital media in young people’s lives. Through practical examples, real-life cases, expert insights, and actionable recommendations, it helps professionals better understand and support vulnerable young people in their digital journeys.

This publication is a valuable resource for educators, youth workers, counsellors, social workers, and anyone involved in supporting young people. It provides practical tools and evidence-based guidance to help professionals foster digital resilience, encourage safe online participation, and ensure that no young person is left behind in an increasingly connected world.

Although the book is currently available only in Dutch, it represents an excellent example of how organisations can address the digital needs of vulnerable young people through practical, accessible resources. We encourage colleagues across Europe and beyond to explore similar initiatives in their own languages and contexts, or to consider developing such resources where they do not yet exist. As digital technologies become ever more embedded in education and society, supporting vulnerable learners and young people remains a shared challenge and responsibility.
