Protect Erasmus+: Don’t cut impact to cut costs

The future of Erasmus+ is at a critical moment. As the EU negotiates the programme’s budget for 2028–2034, there is a real risk that funding will fall short of what is needed to sustain its impact. Although the European Commission has proposed a budget of 40.8€ billion, inflation and the integration of new actions mean this would not represent a real increase. Some Member States are now seeking to reduce the budget even further.

Together with the Lifelong Learning Platform and partners across Europe, we are calling for at least 50€ billion for Erasmus+ to ensure the programme can continue empowering learners, educators and communities across Europe. Erasmus+ is one of the EU’s greatest success stories, investing in education is investing in Europe’s future. Join the campaign by reading and sharing the statement and helping call on national governments to protect Erasmus+ funding.

Together with partners across Europe, the Lifelong Learning Platform are calling on national governments to prioritise Erasmus+ in the ongoing budget negotiations.
