UNESCO has recently introduced Journey through the MILtiverse – a comprehensive Media and Information Literacy (MIL) toolkit designed to support youth organisations in integrating MIL into their strategies, policies, and actions.
Available as a downloadable document, this toolkit begins with some usefulback ground on media and information literacy and its relevance for young people. The toolkit itself is based on 4 main sections. The first and probably the most useful, provides a series of activities – called missions – that youth leaders can organise for the young people with whom they work to help them improve their skills and higher order knowledge in a variety of different ways. Each mission is built upon a seperate scenario on topics like “Freedom of expression”. “Generative AI” and includes information and key concepts related to the topic, tips and guidance as well as a handy way to assess what those using the toolkit have learned during the activity. The second and third sections provide additional ideas on how to incorporate MIL related practices into the organisation’s policies and strategies. The final section provides further templates
to help guide youth organisations on how to turn policies and strategies into a concrete action plan for teir organisation.
